IRB Forms and Resources

Ethics Training

All faculty, staff, faculty advisors, and student PI's need take training in research ethics. A certificate documenting training should be submitted with all research proposals.

Training is  currently available through CITI. Talk to the IRB chair about how best to set up this training option at the CITI website https://about.citiprogram.org/en/series/human-subjects-research-hsr/

NIH has training that will be available at phrptraining.com (funding for training available through your department chair or the Provost's Office).

Securing Data

All data and consent forms should be kept in a secure location. The PI is responsible for ensuring all data is secured and meets the required timelines for the destruction of data.

  • Physical data with identifying information should be kept in a locked file cabinet or locked desk on campus accessible only by necessary parties. If a student is the primary researcher, the Faculty Sponsor will be responsible for securing the data.
  • If data is to be kept on a personal device, it must be kept in an encrypted, password-protected file. If you need assistance with encrypting your files, please contact the Chapdesk for assistance.
  • LCU provides secure file sharing through TEAMS. PI’s can request a folder be created in TEAMS for their research project by contacting the TEAMS manager, Chapdesk@LCU.edu. Co-researchers will be able to share files as needed.
