Pre-Physician Assistant

Pre-Physician Assistant

Students preparing for a career as a Physician's Assistant are considered to be on a Pre-Physician's Assistant path. In order to qualify for Physician's Assistant Programs, students must take necessary prerequisites for each school.

In order to practice in this field, individuals must obtain a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree. This may require additional education and clinical experience, for more information contact HealthProfessions@LCU.edu.

What do Physician Assistants do?

Physician Assistants (PAs) practice medicine as part of a team of physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers to assess, diagnose, and treat patients.  Click here for a full description of what PAs do.

What is the job outlook?

Employment growth for PAs is projected at 37 percent from 2016 to 2026, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for PAs is driven by baby boomers, who require more care for chronic diseases.
