Lubbock Christian University Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 update.Learn More
The events of the past several weeks are unprecedented. Every member of the LCU community, including you and your family, has had their life turned upside down. We are all adjusting to a new way of doing things in new places and in new ways, but these new things do not define us. LCU is the experience we all share together, and we are sharing it in a different way in the coming days.
Academic instruction and finals for all classes will be provided via distance learning through the end of the semester. Distance learning will commence on Monday, March 30. Specific details regarding course access and procedures will be sent to you via email by your faculty.
Our hope was to resume vibrant on-campus life for the remainder of the semester. However, this is no longer possible, and we must take steps that are in the best interest of sustaining the educational enterprise for now.
RESIDENCE HALL HOUSING
The university will make adjustments or make refunds related to residence halls and meal plans for students not returning to live in residence halls for the remainder of the spring semester. Details will be communicated to campus residents in the coming days.
DINING SERVICES AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
On-campus dining options will be limited to takeout. Starbucks, Chap Express, and the REC Center are closed for the remainder of the semester.
SPIRITUAL LIFE CREDITS
Spiritual life credits required for the semester are considered complete for all students. We will produce online spiritual life content through the remainder of the semester beginning with a livestreamed chapel on Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 am featuring our new president, Dr. Scott McDowell.
Student workers should contact their supervisors with any questions about their work duties for the remainder of the semester.
Your personal vehicles may remain on campus until 12:00 noon, May 9, regardless of the lot in which it was parked when you left for spring break. If you have any questions regarding your vehicle, LCU Public Safety is available at 806-928-6803.
May undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremonies are postponed and will be rescheduled after travel limitations and group gathering restrictions are lifted.
The new “LCUwithU” page for student activities at LCU.edu contains resources and campus events that are being converted to online activities for students. All on-campus events, organizational meetings, and club activities are suspended through the end of the semester, including non-LCU events that were scheduled to be held on campus.
LCU MEDICAL CLINIC
Medical Clinic staff will be available, but office hours may vary during this time. Walk-in visits are temporarily suspended, so please call ahead. To schedule an appointment, ask questions, or leave a message call (806) 720-7482. Call 911 in the event of an emergency.
LCU COUNSELING CENTER
Telehealth counseling is available for students through a HIPAA approved video conferencing platform. Email counseling@LCU.edu to schedule an appointment.
Any additional changes and updates will be shared with you through your LCU email account.
We appreciate the continued optimism and support expressed by many of you as this transition to distance learning takes place. We continue our prayers for your health and for your family’s well-being during this pivotal time. We eagerly anticipate the day when we are all able to gather again at LCU.
“My father is always at work to this very day, and I too, am working.” (John 5:17 NIV)
