Lubbock Christian University has been picked by Heartland Conference coaches and sports information directors to claim the 2018 title finishing just ahead of reigning champion St. Mary's in the preseason poll. The 2018 Preseason All-Heartland Softball team is highlighted by three Lady Chaps, including Sydney Beuthien, Casey Ingram, and Lindzi Clemmer.

LCU picked up six first-place votes and 88 total points on its way to the top of the preseason poll. The Lady Chaps are looking for their first conference title in softball since they claimed a share of the regular-season crown in 2015.
Just behind LCU in the poll is reigning conference champion St. Mary's who seeks a 17th conference title in the past 18 years. The Rattlers received six first-place votes and 84 overall points.
Following LCU and St. Mary's is Oklahoma Christian with 71 total points and two first-place votes.
The Lady Chaparral's three Preseason All-Conference honorees ranks second only to St. Mary's four recipients. Oklahoma Christian earned two spots on the team.
LCU is coming off of a 2017 season where they earned the Heartland Conference Tournament title for the second consecutive season.
The Lady Chaps will open up their 2018 campaign at home taking on Chadron State University at the Lubbock Softball Classic hosted at PlainsCapital Park. First pitch against Chadron State is set for Friday, Feb. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
