LCU celebrates spring 2015 graduates at commencement ceremonies

From postgraduate to undergraduate levels, the time has come again for many LCU students to dress in their graduation regalia and walk the stage.

Lubbock Christian University will be holding two commencement ceremonies for the spring 2015 graduating class. The Graduate Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the McDonald Moody Auditorium. The Undergraduate Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.

Andrea Fultz, who is graduating suma cum laude and with a Bachelor of Biochemistry, has been chosen as the spring 2015 undergraduate commencement ceremony student speaker. The Idalou native has excelled during her time at LCU, being named Ms. LCU and a member of the Who’s Who Among Students in America’s Universities and Colleges for 2015. While at LCU, Andrea was also a member of the honor’s program, a homecoming court nominee, president of the social club Christliche Damen, and served as a counselor at LCU summer camps Encounter and Camp Champion. She will be serving as a youth intern at Greenlawn Church of Christ over the summer.

Dr. Brandon L. Fredenburg has been designated as the graduate commencement ceremony speaker. He began his career at LCU in 2000 and currently serves the university as Assistant Dean of the College of Biblical Studies and Behavior Sciences and as a professor of Biblical studies. Dr. Fredenburg is a published author, has presented at numerous academic conferences, and is leading the university’s effort for accreditation of LCU’s Graduate Master’s programs in biblical and related studies through the Association of Theological Schools—Council on Accreditation.

John J. Christmann, CEO and President of the Apache Corporation, will be the keynote speaker at the undergraduate commencement ceremony. Christmann, a Lubbock native, began his career working for Vastar Resources/ARCO Oil and Gas Company, where he specialized in business development, crude oil marketing, and engineering assignments. He then joined the Apache Corporation in 1997, holding various roles of increasing responsibility in the business development area. He has served in positions such as Production. Christmann currently serves as a member of the Lubbock Christian University Foundation Board.
