LCU to Host Over 40 Events for Homecoming 2016

LCU will celebrate Homecoming Weekend 2016 on Thursday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 14. With over forty events, LCU offers a weekend of reunions, friends, and Follies for alumni and their families. This year will feature Homecoming Classes ’61, ’66, ’76, ’81, ’86, ’91, ’01, ’06, and ’11.

On Friday, Feb. 12, alumni from all decades will gather for the Alumni Reception in the Talkington Nursing Center Atrium. After fellowship and hors d’oeuvres, the alumni will disperse for their respective decade reunions: 1959-1961 in the Arnett House, 1962-1969 in the Katie Rogers Parlor, 1970-1979 in the Rhodes-Perrin Rec Center, 1980-1989 in the SUB, and 2000-2015 in the Dover Avenue Starbucks. The 1990-1999 Decade Family Dinner in the Baker Conference Center will be a new event for graduates of the ‘90s decade, with memorabilia, a performance from alumni band Priority 1, and door prizes.

Another new event this year is the Letterman’s Breakfast on Saturday Feb. 13 at 8:30 a.m. in the Rip Griffin Center.

Alumni athletes from all sports – even the extinct LCU football team – are invited for a breakfast reuniting old teammates and showcasing LCU’s move to NCAA Division II.

A Celebration of Life and Remembrance will be added to the Homecoming schedule this year at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. In the Memory Garden behind the SUB, alumni will have the opportunity to reflect and celebrate the LCU family members they have lost. The LCU Behavioral Sciences Society, a student organization, will have flowers with “Celebrating the Life of” cards available for a small cash donation.

One of the largest new events, the Forever Blue: Family Celebration quickly garnered interest and sold out shortly after tickets became available. The Family Celebration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Rhodes-Perrin Recreation Center and will include a BBQ dinner, music from the Flying J Wranglers, and special presentations about new and exciting things happening on LCU campus.

Alumni can RSVP for events online or by calling (806) 720.7218.
