Measles
Measles is a highly contagious viral illness and is easily spread through respiratory droplets. The best way to protect against measles is with the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Most individuals received the two dose MMR series with their routine childhood vaccinations. Two doses of MMR vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles; one dose is about 93% effective.
- Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and eventually a red rash.
- If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is important to isolate and call the LCU Student Health Office or your primary care provider for further instructions. Do not go to class or into the LCU SHO until you’ve spoken with a provider.
