Graduates will have the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for effective intervention in working with individuals, families, and communities. Each of the graduate faculty hold doctorates and have extensive experience in working with families in churches and social service agencies. Each graduate class is designed to help students master the competencies of an effective practitioner. Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a program offered through a combination of online and residency courses. This program is designed to prepare students for licensing as a counselor in the State of Texas. The university cannot confirm the program meets requirements for licensing in any other state. Master of Science in School Counseling
Prior to being officially admitted to the Master of Science in School Counseling, student must first be admitted to the School of Education in a separate application process. Teacher certification, teaching experience, and a criminal background check is required to be certified as a school counselor in Texas. The Master of Science in School Counseling is offered as an online program. The 48 credit-hour Master of Science in School Counseling meets the requirements for certification preparation in the state of Texas.
