Why LCU?

Academic Achievements

With more than 65 undergraduate majors, a Scholars Colloquium, and an Honors College, LCU has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Top 20 Comprehensive College in the Western Region.

Foundation of Faith

At LCU, everything is based on faith. From the first week that freshmen step on campus, they are learning not only academically, but also spiritually. Whether you choose the tradition of Praise Choir or step up and lead in BLUR, at LCU your character will form the foundation for your success.

Successful Outcomes

Like so many who have come before you, you'll begin your LCU success story from day one and forever be connected with our impressive network of more than 9,000 alumni. LCU graduates are in high demand. In fact, we have a 96% placement rate for graduates of our education program, and our pre-med students gain acceptance to medical school in a typical year at 85% which far exceeds the national average.

Active Lifestyle

From the team-building hilarity of Master Follies to the outrageous stress relief of TWIRP Week, at LCU you won't have time to be bored. You can choose from more than 25 student organizations and more than 15 intramural sports. Keep fit at the Rhodes-Perrin Rec Center, our newly-renovated 70,000-square-foot facility. Cheer on the Chaps (including our 2009 national champion baseball team) or Lady Chaps (including our 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship Basketball Team) Travel the world through study abroad programs. Or take part in a student-led Spring Break campaign reaching points across the country and around the world.

Keeping it Green

LCU is one of the "greenest" campuses in the country, and as a student here, you can help ensure it stays that way. We're innovators in energy conservation, recycling, sustainability, and waste reduction, and we voluntarily seek LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for new campus construction projects.

The Lubbock Experience

When you come to LCU, you will be within 20 miles of 1,800 retail stores, 337 restaurants, 65 public parks, 34 movie theater screens, nine golf courses, and nine libraries, as well as the Preston Smith Lubbock International Airport. Come and see why Lubbock is an awesome place to live.

Green Initiatives

As we prepare for our future at LCU we have recognized the importance of being ecologically responsible and promoting measures for sustainability. We have been recognized in the community as being a trendsetter in the areas of conserving energy, reducing waste, recycling, and voluntarily seeking LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council on each of our new constructions on campus.
