West Texas Youth Winds

The West Texas Youth Winds is an exciting new opportunity for band students to make music in the South Plains! The wind ensemble will rehearse in the Hinds Music Center on Lubbock Christian University's campus on Saturdays from 10am-1pm, and is open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion students!  Auditions will take place following an informational meeting on January 20, 2024 at the Hinds Music Center beginning at 10am.  

  •  January 20, 10am: Initial meeting with students and parents, and auditions 
  • January 27, 10am-1pm: Rehearsal 1
  • February 3, 10am-1pm: Rehearsal 2
  • February 10: No Rehearsal (TMEA) 
  • February 17, 10am-1pm: Rehearsal 3
  • February 24, 10am-1pm: Rehearsal 4
  • March 2, 10am-1pm: Final Rehearsal and Concert at 2pm.   

Lubbock Christian University's Director of Bands, Dr. Lisa Tatum will serve as Artistic Director of the West Texas Youth Winds, and assistant conductors for 2024 will include Dr. Pershauna Johnson and Kirsten Rivera.
