Today concludes a three-day robotics and engineering camp on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. The CONNECT Robotics Camp is designed for middle school students. The camp has been packed with building sessions and engineering challenges. For the conclusion of the camp a demonstration by campers will be held this afternoon in the Maddox Education Building on the LCU campus from 2-3pm.
The camp was developed as a collaboration between Lubbock Christian University, Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), and Guthrie Virtual School. TCEA is committed to developing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving, along with other 21st century skills such as creativity, imagination, curiosity, and innovation. Guthrie Virtual School originates from Guthrie Common School District in Guthrie, Texas, 96 miles east of Lubbock. Darren Wilson, the GVS Technology Coordinator for Guthrie schools, is the instructor for the CONNECT camp. Wilson was recently named 2012 Instructional Technology Specialist of the year by the Texas Computer Education Association.
