Lubbock Christian University kicked off its annual Strike Out Hunger event on Wednesday, Apr. 8, during its 11 a.m. chapel ceremony.
The university, in partnership with the South Plains Food Bank, is raising money and collecting canned food to help provide meals for those in need, both in the Lubbock community and on the South Plains.
The campus wide event will include week long activities and a contest between departments to see who can collect the most food, all leading up to the Chap baseball game against Rogers State University on Saturday, Apr. 18, at 1 p.m.
Beginning at noon, food and beverages will be served, with face painting and fun activities available for kids and adults alike.
Entry to the game is five cans per person or ten cans per family. We hope you’ll join us in our efforts to fight the issue of hunger in our community.
