Functional Title: Custodial Supervisor
Classification: Non-Exempt; Hourly

Department: Custodial
Reports To: Facilities Director
Primary Function: Oversees daily activities of custodial employees, handling emergencies effectively, and inspecting facilities for cleanliness and equipment operation.
Major Duties:
- Supervises all custodial employees and prioritizes work assignments to enhance personnel functions and responsibilities.
- Responsible for evaluating the performance of housekeeping personnel and recommends training.
- Keeps the staff at the highest level of skill necessary in order to meet University needs and objectives.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Leads staff meetings, professional development, and educational seminars.
- Maintains Custodial inventory and orders supplies as needed.
- Help support Custodial employees as needed.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs.
- Plan and coordinate the custodial support for after-hours events.
- Work with Facilities Director in strategic planning to create a pathway for improvements and sustainability of the department/functions for expanding campus usage.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience in floor care including buffing, waxing, and polishing.
- Ability to support, train, supervise, plan, and coordinate the work of employees.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to help students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner.
- Strong ability to multitask and problem solve.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is essential.
- Must have a current and valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Ability to drive.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in custodial operations.
- Minimum of one (1) year supervisor experience.
- Bilingual preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:
- Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
- Required to regularly sit and stand.
- Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
- Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
- Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.
- Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods.
