Mission of Student Life:

The Lubbock Christian University Division of Student Life exists to deepen the sense of community, inspire Christ-life development, and foster student growth with high quality services and programs. throughout the student experience.

Counseling Center:

The LCU Counseling Center provides professional, confidential services for a variety of personal, relational, and academic concerns for LCU students, faculty, staff, and dependents. Anyone seeking counseling services is entitled to an intake or consultation counseling session free of charge. After the initial session, each subsequent session will be $10 each. Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit/debit card. The Counseling Center does not accept insurance. The staff of the Counseling Center may suggest or make referrals for circumstances that require. intensive, long-term care. The client will be financially responsible for any outside help, referred. or otherwise. The Counseling Center staff adheres to the ethical standards of their respective professionals and to state and federal laws relating to confidentiality.

Primary Function: Provide brief counseling services and urgent needs counseling to continuously improve the quality of student life at Lubbock Christian University.     

Major Duties:              

  • Provide brief counseling services for clients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients in counseling.
  • Proactively and directly impact client lives for good.
  • Establish an excellent customer service environment in the Counseling Center.
  • Suggest referrals to community counselors for long term counseling needs, at client’s expense.
  • Assist with scheduled educational programs as needed.
  • Uphold and support the core values of Lubbock Christian University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in counseling required; recent graduates of master’s program are invited to apply; licensed as a Mental Health Professional or eligible to apply for licensure; 1-2 years’ experience in counseling preferred; all qualified applicants must be professing Christians.

Salary and Benefits:

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.
